Metallic Tape Window Decor

Have you ever seen metallic tape? It dispenses like ordinary Scotch tape but comes in shiny colors of gold, silver, blue, green or red. These tapes are easy to work with and can help you create beautiful designs for any window of your home. The tape is slightly more expensive than Scotch tape, but a roll will do at least a window or two, depending upon the size of the glass. There are any number of fabulous designs you can do using nothing more than the metallic tape.

Its difficult - if not impossible - to make circular, oval and some other designs with tape. Since tape dispenses into a long, rectangular shape youll have to work with that particular design. Drawing the design onto the glass, in disappearing ink marker, will help you position the tape designs perfectly.

Even though youre limited to the shapes you can create there are many designs you can easily accomplish. Place the metallic tape around the perimeter of the glass, a couple inches away from the window frame. The colored square or rectangle will add glitz and glamour to the window. Add to that original design by tearing small pieces of tape to go between the window frame and the rectangular tape design. The small pieces should be evenly spaced and reach from the edge of the long tape strips to the edge of the window. Theyll be placed horizontally on the sides of the window and vertically on the top and bottom areas of the glass. Instead of doing a perimeter design just create stripes for the windows. Make two or three stripes down each side of the window with no stripes at the top or bottom. The stripes on the sides can be equal in size or can progressively get smaller with each new stripe. Give the windows a completely different look by creating a large "X" from the tape. Create an "x" for each window and its a unique appearance thats simplistic yet stunning. Using the tape in colors of gold or silver creates glitzy designs for any room of the house. You dont absolutely have to make the designs on only square or rectangular windows. Make a grid pattern on a round or octagonal window. The grids can have large spaces or small ones. Tiny jewels can even be added to the cross sections of the tape. The jewels can be simply hot glued into place. Whenever you want a new design on your window its easy to accomplish using new tape. Remove the old tape, jewels and other embellishments. Use fingernail polish remove to get rid of any remaining adhesive on the window. Now youre ready to begin the new design. Its not expensive to create fabulous windows that can serve as decoration for holidays or just for everyday appearances. The tape comes in bright tings that allow you to add a punch of color to any room for mere pennies. If the tape is wider than you want it to be its easy to position it on the window, mark where you want to cut it, then use a straight edge and razor to trim away a portion of the tape. Peel it away and use polish remover, if necessary, to clean away remaining adhesive. This technique allows you to make even the narrowest of pin stripes for your windows. Use the metallic tape to make matching decor. The tape can be stuck to light switch covers, lamp bases, some drawer pulls, mirrors, cabinet doors, bathtubs and many more items around the house. Its so easy to create the metallic designs that youre liable to get carried away! Consider the tape designs for trash cans, cell phones, metal baskets, vases, picture frame and more. Youll have so much fun!
